Teacher of the Year Candidate 2011-2012

It is a tremendous honor to be named as a candidate for Teacher of the Year at Somerset Academy for the 2011-2012 school year. I feel it is a privilege not only to have the opportunity to teach, but to also get the guidance and support necessary to teach subjects that I am passionate about. It definitely makes my job much more enjoyable and I consider it a tremendous fortune to be able to teach students and have an opportunity to help shape their lives.

There is a lot of hard work involved, to be sure, but whenever you are recognized by your peers for your efforts, it all becomes even more rewarding. I am looking forward to finishing up the year, having my students take their AP tests, and wrap up our 3rd year of our Latin program at Somerset. We have been able to make great strides adding Latin III Honors this year, and we are going to expand that from 1 student to about 13 next year. We will also have our first ever AP Latin student next year and our JCL chapter has continued to grow and evolve from last year’s founding to this year where we will grant our first ever Latin Honor Society memberships.
